Show Your Love with USA Pears

It’s almost Valentine’s Day! I decided to round up some unusual gift ideas involving, of course, USA Pears. First, you could go the obvious route and give, well, pears. Red Anjou pears are in season now, and with their pretty red skin and light citrus notes, they’re a lovely gift for any girl or boy. Harry and David has some fun Valentine’s Day-themed gift sets. I especially like this Fondue for Two with their signature Royal Riviera Pears. If your sweetie has a knack for cooking, why not splurge on a Le Creuset dutch oven? Every cook I know covets one if they don’t own it already. And in bright, vivid red, it’s a fitting reminder of the romantic holiday. Or if you’d rather focus on the experience, why not make your Valentine a delicious dessert? Poached pears turn decadent Continue reading

Holiday Gift Baskets

Christmas is just over two weeks away, and I still have family members to shop for! Recently, I’ve been thinking about giving something beautiful, simple, and well-received: a gift basket. In fact, fresh USA Pears are used in many holiday gift baskets, including these beauties from fellow pear lovers: Known for their extravagant gift towers and picture-perfect pears, Harry and David never disappoint. They’re located in the heart of Medford, Oregon, one of the main growing regions of USA Pears. Check out their bounty here. The Fruit Company: Their name and presentation may be simple, but their product will bowl you over. Every pear included in their watercolor gift boxes is grown in their own orchards in Hood River, Oregon. They have baskets for every holiday! Click here to see your options. Based in Wenatchee, Washington, Bountiful Fruit offers a variety of Continue reading

Give Pears

If you’re like me, your Christmas shopping list is still begging for your attention. I have the gift wrap aplenty, but no gifts. Yet. Christmas gifts can be difficult to find, but I’m looking through, er, pear-colored glasses this year for a fresh new take on giving. Here are some of my favorite ideas! For the cook: Give your favorite chef a reason to keep baking for you – give him or her this quirky European flan pan! Thanks to Rebeka Cohen of Owls and Pears for sharing! Tie this cookie cutter into the ribbon as a sweet treat! For your better half: Give your sweetheart this print, which reads “the perfect pear.” It’s a steal on Etsy.com. For the foodie: Your foodie friends will drool over this Intense Pear bar from Lindt. With dark chocolate and almond slivers, how Continue reading

Etsy Roundup!

I’m not artsy. I don’t paint, sew, or make cute gifts for friends. So when I stumbled onto Etsy.com, I was an instant fan. And now that I’m at the Pear Bureau, a new world of pears has opened up to me – largely thanks to Etsy! Pear swag on Etsy is cute – we’re not talking chintzy ceramic pears or gaudy kitchen towels. I’m starting a wish list now! Here are some of my most recent favorites: Reusable Sandwich Bag (by Zummi): This perky, punchy sandwich bag is not only eco-friendly, it’s cute! I’d be happy showing this bag off in the office lunchroom or filling it with makeup for a weekend trip. Pear Coasters (by Crochele): These cozy coasters would look great on my coffee table or next to my keyboard. They’re locally made right here in Portland, OR, Continue reading

The Gift of Fresh USA Pears

With all the rich chocolates, fudge, cookies, and candy passed around at the holidays, why not stand out from the crowd and give the gift of fresh and naturally sweet USA Pears?  Gift pears are special because they’re the best of the best, premium grade, hand-picked and chosen for customers who want to give their family and friends something special.  We’re sure the recipient of a gift pear box will be thrilled, but don’t take my word for it, here are a few notes we’ve received from the recipients of fresh pear gifts we’ve ordered: “The pears arrived on Monday and were the most gorgeous, delicious pears I have ever tasted or seen!  It was more beautiful than a still life painting and truly a divine gift.  My family agreed they were the most delicious pears, and my aunt loved Continue reading
