Celebrate National Salad Month with USA Pears

May is National Salad Month, and we’re ready to celebrate!

We’re seeing pears paired with all sorts of greens this spring. The juicy, sweet flavors of Anjou pears especially complement dense, spicy greens like arugula, radicchio, and the upcoming salad star, watercress.

We’ve rounded up a sampling of seasonal salad recipes that showcase USA Pears. Check ‘em out!

Fine Cooking features an elegant, rich salad that pairs arugula with sweet pears, salty prosciutto, and nutty Gouda cheese. Sounds like a perfect dinner for a warm spring night: Arugula Salad with Pears, Prosciutto, and Aged Gouda.

In this recipe (pictured above) from the New York Times, pears and gorgonzola complement the “feisty” flavor of watercress. With its cruciferous kick, “watercress is yin” to the sweet pears’ yang: Watercress, Pear and Gorgonzola Salad.

Deb of the drool-worthy cooking blog Smitten Kitchen created a creamy, delicious salad, matching juicy pears and apples with bitter radicchio, and drizzling the combination with a rich homemade dressing. Yum: Radicchio, Apple and Pear Salad.

We know, we know, May is almost over, so go out with a bang! Celebrate your Memorial Day weekend with a fresh pear salad. Happy National Salad Month!
